About
Said LANG-bird, like “long bird”. The final e is silent.
Langbyrde was built by an incorporated consultant in Ontario who kept his own books in a spreadsheet: invoices in US dollars, expenses in three currencies, HST, payroll remittances and a folder of receipts named by hand. Every month-end reconciliation took an evening he didn’t have.
The tools he tried wanted a subscription and kept his data on their servers. He wanted the opposite: a desktop app he pays for once, that keeps the company file in his own folder, uses AI through his own key only when he asks, and hands his accountant a clean package at year end.
It starts where he works, in Ontario, and it is built to travel: the rest of Canada as free updates, then Quebec, the United States and the European Union. See where Langbyrde is going.
Lang is “long” in Scots and old English; byrde is an old spelling of “bird”. A long bird is a heron: it stands still in shallow water, sees clearly what is beneath the surface, and moves only when it is sure. It also migrates, and takes its home with it. Your books should do the same: belong to you, travel with you, and leave nobody else holding the keys.

$149 CAD, once, for one person on up to two computers. No subscription. Updates within version 1 are free; you pay again only if you want the next major version.
Langbyrde organises, reconciles and exports. It does not file returns and does not give advice. Your accountant stays your accountant, with better records to work from.
